Device CAL
- Assigned to a specific device (e.g., a shared workstation).
- Any number of users can use that device to access SQL Server.

When Do You Need CALs?

You need CALs when using the Server + CAL licensing model, which is typically used in smaller or mid-sized organizations.
If you use the Per Core licensing model instead, CALs are not required.

Example Use Case

If 10 employees each access SQL Server from their own laptops and phones:
- You could buy 10 User CALs.
If 10 employees share 5 computers to access SQL Server:
- You could buy 5 Device CALs.

All our products are delivered digitally via e-mail. You will receive a product key, download file and installation and activation instructions. Most products are delivered within 1-5 minutes. Some products must be delivered manually and can take up to 1 hour to be delivered.

You can also access the product you have purchased via My Account:

Go to “My Account” by clicking on the upper right corner of the web page: “Hello, [your name]”.
Click on “Orders“. Find the correct order ID and press “SHOW” at the far right under the heading “ACTIONS”.
On the order page you will find the product key and download guide (some products will only be assigned a download guide via e-mail).

IF YOU CAN’T FIND THE PRODUCT KEY:

If the product key is not listed on the order page or in the order confirmation, this will automatically be sent to you by e-mail within one hour from the time of purchase (Monday – Sunday 10am – 11pm (UTC+2)).
